William J. Baron, Bell Laboratories Director of Optical Products Technology - Lucent Technologies William J. Baron is currently Bell Laboratories Director of optical products technology at Lucent Technologies' main fiber optics facility in Atlanta, Georgia USA, where he has been located since 1990. Prior to joining the fiber optics business, he managed a variety of manufacturing process development technologies at the Bell Labs Engineering Research Center in Princeton, New Jersey. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Princeton University, and performed post-doctoral research at der Ruhr Universität Bochum (Germany) and Columbia University. Bill is also currently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech. He has 25 years experience with Bell Laboratories in various levels of technical management. Dr. Baron has broad-based expertise in telecommunications and associated manufacturing operations, which include fiber optics, circuit pack assembly, semiconductor processes, environmental and materials technology. His management responsibilities have included product design, product development, manufacturing process development, manufacturing engineering, installation engineering, environmental health & safety and fiber premise cable manufacturing operations.
Milan Bavec, Managing Director - Iskra Mehanizmi Milan Bavec has been the Managing Director of Iskra Mehanizmi since 1993. Under his leadership, the company has succeeded in overcoming the difficulties of the transition period in Slovenia and establishing its position as a reliable supplier of electro-mechanical and precision-mechanical components. He has a long history with Iskra -- he was the Director of Iskra Orodjarna, Technical Director of Iskra Kibernetika, and Technical Director of Iskra Electric Power Tools. He holds a degree in business administration and organization, and is a lecturer of KAIZEN methods. He speaks three foreign languages: German, English, and Serbo-Croat. Applying his achieved knowledge and experience, Iskra Mehanizmi increased its turnover for 260% from 1993 to 1999, introduced several new successful production programmes and mastered the quality standards ISO 9001 and VDA 6/1, and the environmental protection standard ISO 14001. He is also the vice president of the regional Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. Milan is married and has two grown children
Tracey Burton-Houle, Partner - AGI In her nine year tenure at AGI, Tracey has been developing, teaching, and implementing TOC with individuals and organizations worldwide, including Intel, ITT Defense, Ford Electronics, and the US Air Force. She is currently focusing her energies on spearheading TOC in "for-cause" organizations, particularly healthcare, community development, and government. This involves the development of a new workshop geared towards aligning an organization's policies, measurements and behaviors with their strategic objectives.
As a founding partner of AGI, Oded has worked with Dr. Goldratt for more than twenty years and has successfully implemented TOC ideas and systems in many companies, industries, and cultures. Oded has taken a role of assisting and building the necessary infrastructure to support TOC in various European and Asian countries. In addition to his TOC expertise in the areas of Production, Project Management, and Sales & Marketing, Oded has focused his efforts in the development of the Management Skills Workshop to address day-to-day problems as well as the use of TOC to overcome Resistance to Change.
Hugh Cole, Executive Director - AGI Hugh has been associated with AGI since 1993. His practice includes teaching and implementation of Theory of Constraints Thinking Processes and their related applications to production, distribution, project management, marketing/sales, management skills and strategic planning. He has experience in implementations in the electronics, metals, chemicals, packaging and consumer goods industries, among others. As a TOC educator, Hugh works with multi-company and inter-company groups to teach the Thinking Processes (JONAH Programs and Management Skills), TOC Applications and to certify others to teach the Production and Distribution TOC applications. He is a frequent lecturer and speaker in universities and professional organizations. Prior to association with the AGI, he worked in industry for more than eighteen years holding both line and staff positions in production, engineering and marketing. Positions held include a wide range of responsibilities varying from plant engineering to Director of Operations responsible for multiple plant facilities. Hugh has other direct business experience in production engineering and in production planning and scheduling..
Henning du Preez, Partner - AGI As Managing Director of AGI (Southern Africa), Henning du Preez is leading the effort to introduce the Theory Of Constraints (TOC) to, and establish it as the standard management approach in, Southern Africa. In the course of the last 7 years he has been involved in both the dissemination and implementation of TOC in a broad range of TOC Solutions. Gerald M. Hoffman, Certified Associate - AGI As a Certified Associate of AGI, Gerry is responsible for the implementation of the Theory of Constraints (TOC) in Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma and has facilitated TOC implementations across the United States and South America. Much of Mr. Hoffman's success is derived through breakthrough improvements, reducing production lead times up to 78% and increasing sales volume up to 60%. Prior to joining AGI , Mr. Hoffman spent 21 years in entrepreneurial and Fortune 500 firms in the metal fabrication, electronics and plastic molding sectors, including the last 10 as Chief Financial Officer with additional responsibility for information systems, materials, scheduling, distribution and human resources. Dale Houle, Managing Partner - AGI As Managing Partner of the Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute, Dale Houle is one of the world's foremost experts in the Theory of Constraints (TOC). Over the last 19 years he has been extensively involved in the development and implementation of TOC thinking processes and their related applications. His work has been in the areas of marketing and sales, production, distribution, project management and management skills throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and South Africa. During this time he has implemented TOC with both large and small organizations that operate in the areas of defense, electronics, metals, pharmaceuticals, rubber, automotive, chemical and consumer goods.
Dee Bradbury Jacob, Partner - AGI Ms. Jacob is a key innovator in the development of the latest applications of TOC in Project Management, and a highly sought after speaker and implementor in the subject of Multi-Project and Single-Project Management. Since joining AGI in 1991, she has been a regional partner for South Africa, Australasia, and part of North America. Her 18 years in management at Procter and Gamble prior to joining the Institute, affords her an array of business experience to combine with her TOC knowledge. At Procter, she implemented some of the first production-replenishment TOC solutions, as well as developed the first education on Critical Chain management. She is an expert in the broad range of TOC solutions. Ed Kincer, Manager of Throughput Improvement Processes - GM Powertrain Ed Kincer is Manager of Throughput Improvement Processes at GM Powertrain. He has served in that capacity for over three years. Prior to that, he served in various positions in areas such as Manufacturing, Production Control & Logistics, Purchasing, Quality and Product Engineering. A 29 year GM veteran, Ed has earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in Manufacturing Management from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). He has completed the Jonah, Production License and Multi Project Management License from AGI. In his spare time, Ed enjoys family activities that include fishing and model airplanes.
Brent began his career in the disc drive industry as an assembly operator at Magnetic Peripherals, Inc. (MPI) in 1977. MPI became a wholly-owned Control Data subsidiary named Imprimis Technology in 1988.Brent held several line supervisory roles at MPI, and became part of Seagate when Seagate acquired Imprimis Technology in 1989. Brent was responsible for Operations in the Minnesota Drive operations through the mid-1990's, and then directed the Business Management Office from 1997-98. He was spent the past 1 1/2 years directing change initiatives within Seagate's Product and Technology group, and currently reports to Seagate's Chief Techology Officer.
As President of the Goldratt Institute (Israel), Dr. Klarman is leading the effort to introduce TOC to, and establish it as the standard management approach in, Israel. In the course of the last 15 years he has taken a major part in the drive to develop and disseminate TOC. His work includes developing the educational materials and the simulators used in various areas of TOC education. He has worked to develop the application of TOC in the field of intelligence research. His current drive is centered on the application of TOC in Project Management - an effort that has made Israel one of the leading centers in this demanding field.
Kevin Kohls, Director of Technical Systems and Data Analysis - GM Kevin Kohls is the Director of Technical Systems and Data Analysis for GM North America's Quality, Reliability, & Competitive Operations Implementation group out of Pontiac, Michigan. He has worked for GM for 23 years since his days as a co-op electrical engineering student at the General Motors Institute, now called Kettering University, in Flint, Michigan. He has a Master?s in electrical engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, as well, where he went on a GM fellowship. Kevin has worked on throughput improvement issues for the past 12 years, since he used the knowledge he garnered from The Goal, his first TOC class, and a GM tool called C-More, to help improve throughput at the Cadillac Detroit/Hamtramck plant by 6 jph. We?ll learn more about the uses of C-More in his presentation today. His work in the plant earned him GM's Most Valuable Colleague Award in 1991. He was then recruited from Hamtramck to help start a divisional group to work on throughput issues across many plants. He is now part of a corporate group that works to improve throughput in GM's 29 North American assembly plants. He has also spread the use of TOC concepts into the vehicle manufacturing design world in GM. Kevin is a Jonah's Jonah, and teaches the Constraints Management workshop, the Throughput Improvement Process, and Designing for RONA Improvement courses internally to GM.
Ms. Leishman has been a partner of AGI since January 1998. She has an extensive international engineering and education background, and has taught and consulted in a wide range of improvement processes including Theory of Constraints, Total Quality Management, Just in Time and other aspects of operations management. As partner, Ms. Leishman is responsible for marketing and organizing the dissemination of TOC, as well as conducting courses and implementing TOC in Australasia.
Bill McClelland, Executive Director - AGI During his 27-year career with Texaco Incorporated and the International Business Machines Corporation, Bill held senior management positions in Research and Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Strategic Planning. After retiring from IBM, Bill became Vice President of Product Management for a struggling Silicon Valley peripherals company where he played a major role in a remarkable company turnaround by learning and applying the Theory of Constraints. For the past four years, Bill has been associated with AGI, facilitating TOC implementations for companies across the United States and Canada. He is a frequent speaker at professional organization meetings and conferences.
Bob Mendenhall, Director of Integrated Scheduling - BAE Systems Mr. Mendenhall has been with BAE Systems Flight Simulation and Training Solutions for the past 15 years. He has worked in development engineering and project engineering in multi-project environments for the past 28 years. He holds a masters degree in Dynamics and Controls from Purdue University, and recently completed the Jonah's Jonah program with AGI.
Dr. Donn Novotny, Partner - AGI Dr. Donn Novotny's background includes extensive experience in industry as an executive and consultant, as well as faculty appointments at Purdue, Wharton, and the University of Notre Dame. Simulation, scheduling and materials management have been the essence of his research and his work was instrumental in the development of many scheduling systems. His current research efforts are focused on the application of TOC to the strategies and tactics of supply chain organizations.
Alan Oswald, Financial Director - Robor Stewarts & Lloyds Alan Oswald is a Chartered Accountant (CPA) and is the Financial director of Robor Stewarts & Lloyds (RSL), a subsidiary of one of South Africa's largest industrial companies. RSL has been underperforming for over 10 years. He has been with the company for two years, having spent his previous 8 years on "Turnaround" management teams responsible for reviving three other companies that were in financial difficulty. John W. Pitts, President - BAE Systems Flight Simulation & Training John W. Pitts is the President of BAE SYSTEMS Flight Simulation and Training, a position he assumed in March 1998. Pitts joined the company in April 1997 as Vice President of the military Products business area. He came from Systems Research Laboratories (SRL), where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager. Previously Pitts served in senior management positions in the Simulation and Training Industry with General Electric and the Harris Corporation. A graduate of the United Military Academy at West Point, he also holds a Master of Science degree from the Sloan School of Management, MIT. In addition to his BAE SYSTEMS duties, Pitts is a member of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, pursuing his interest in economic growth and development. He and his wife, Becky, have two grown daughters.
Branko Suhadolnik, Director of the SBU Mehanizmi - Iskra Mehanizmi Branko Suhadolnik joined Iskra Mehanizmi in 1993 as Commercial Director. Previously he was an Export Manager in Iskra Electric Power Tools. He holds a degree in Economy and speaks four languages: English, German, Italian, and Serbo-Croat. His assistance and support in implementing the latest methods of TOC and KAIZEN in the company's everyday activities have been of great importance for the successful turn-about of Iskra Mehanizmi. He has played an active role in gaining new markets - the European Union, India and the United States, as well as in introducing new programmes - small electric motors, BILED information displays and time meters. His familiarity with different tasks and positions is highly appreciated in a number of projects he has been coordinating. Branko is married, has two children, is the grandfather of two.
Dan Tremblay, Manager of Throughput Improvement Processes - GM Powertrain Dan Tremblay has been Manager of Throughput Improvement Processes at GM Powertrain for the last four years. In his 23 years with GM, Dan has worked in Manufacturing, Purchasing, Production Control & Logistics, Personnel, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering R&D. Dan has earned degrees from General Motors Institute (BS in Industrial Administration) and Purdue University (MS in Industrial Engineering). Dan is a Jonah who has also completed the Production License course at AGI. Most of his spare time is spent with his family at a cottage on Lake Huron. |
