The following full-day PreConference Workshops will be held on Monday, April 14. The cost to attend is US$495 per person. These sessions are open only to those attending the Velocity conference.

An Introduction to Theory of Constraints (TOC)
Presenter: Bob Jacob

For those new to TOC, this interactive and often entertaining one-day session provides you with the foundational understanding of the TOC Thinking Processes and logistical solutions found in the books The Goal, Critical Chain and It's Not Luck. The logistical solutions discussed can cause dramatic results in production, supply chain and project environments. The Thinking Processes used in creating strategy and consensus are extremely powerful.

Through a combination of presentation, discussion, and hands-on exercises, the preconference session will better equip you with the basics and sufficient insights to achieve greater depth of learning during the full conference sessions.

This session provides valuable understanding to the novice, as well as the person who has some exposure to TOC in a limited area and is ready to understand the breadth of TOC.

An Introduction to Lean and Six Sigma (LSS)
Presenter: Mark Holt

Learn the basic concepts of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and how to apply them to your organization in this one-day, highly interactive training session.

Participants will see how the LSS methodologies are integrated into the Design, Activate, Improve and Sustain (DAIS) model and be introduced to the five founding principles of Lean. They will also begin a journey of discovering waste within their own processes and be introduced to powerful techniques to achieve significant process improvement. Participants will also gain an understanding of the founding principles of Six Sigma; they will see how these powerful concepts are used to measure process capability, and address more deep-rooted problems through the identification of root causes and the reduction of process variation.

All principles will be taught in a very interactive manner, and an in-class exercise will provide real hands-on experience and application.

Participants who successfully complete the training session will receive a LSS Yellow Belt certificate and take their first, important step towards full CSI capability.
